WHAT WAS WRONG WITH YOUR ORIGINAL BATHROOM? I don’t think it had changed since the 1970s! The floor was a tatty brown lino, there was no shower, and now that all the children are grown up, the dated, grey corner bath had served its purpose. I wanted a beautiful new tub, a proper shower, and more storage, too.
DID YOU HAVE ANY BIG IDEAS FOR THE NEW DESIGN? Our home is an old converted barn, so I wanted a timeless scheme that would work with the room’s original wooden beams. My ‘musthave’ was a luxurious freestanding bath as the focal point under the window. Colour-wise, I’m very into grey shades at the moment, and the idea of a bold, patterned floor to add interest also appealed.
TELL US ABOUT THE BIGGEST CHALLENGE YOU FACED The main dilemma was fitting everything in! With the big bath and additional storage I wanted, I really wasn’t sure if we’d have space for a walk-in shower as well. My bathroom designer, Lindsey Durrant of Burlanes, came up with a brand-new layout, however, involving repositioning the door, which gave us a perfect place for the shower.
HOW DID YOU MAKE YOUR BUDGET WORK? Lindsey’s extensive product knowledge really helped, especially with sourcing the bath. It was always going to be the biggest outlay, and although expensive, I could easily have paid a great deal more for something very similar.
ARE YOU HAPPY WITH THE FINISHED LOOK? I’m delighted with the revamped space, as is everyone else – the new shower gets a lot of use! The bath is more of a luxury for when I have time to relax, but I wouldn’t change it for the world, and the underfloor heating is a lovely touch.
WOULD YOU DO ANYTHING DIFFERENTLY? The amount of storage below the basin is ideal, but the cupboard juts into the room a bit more than I’d like. A slimmer design would have been nice, but that would have meant losing some storage, which I wouldn’t want to do.

Don't think you buy furniture. Most furniture stores mark their furniture and can usually reduce the price by as much as twenty per cent if you negotiate. If you're not a price haggler, bring along someone who can accompany you. Thanks From Vanity Units UK
